A magnitude 4.7 earthquake shook southern Italy, in a region near Naples. In its wake, the emergency left around 20 people injured and resulted in the displacement of about 130 families.

The earthquake occurred on Friday at 19:46 local time. It became the strongest seismic movement in the last 40 years in the region and occurred at a depth of 3 km.
Due to landslides, it caused around 300 people distributed in about 130 families to be evacuated from the municipality of Pozzuoli, the most affected area of the emergency with structural collapses. According to the Italian media La Reppublica, nine buildings have been declared unsafe so far.
“The Government is committed to ensuring full assistance to all displaced persons, to find a definitive solution for redevelopment and to secure all uninhabitable buildings,” detailed Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the Council of Ministers of Italy.

The earthquake, which was also felt on the Island of Ischia and even the Sorrento peninsula, caused power outages and damaged a pier in the Phlegraean Fields, the volcanic caldera northwest of Naples.
The seismic swarm also produced two aftershocks following the emergency at 05:47 and 05:59 in the morning, which reached magnitudes of 3.1 and 3.0, respectively.
