The agency explained that the high temperatures occur while the tropical cyclone Dolphin moves towards the Zhejiang region and later inland.
“As the tropical cyclone Dolphin moves towards the Zhejiang region and heads inland, the air mass on its periphery will continue to bring extremely hot weather over the territory from today until Tuesday,” it said.
Previously, the agency had issued a “severe heat alert” and called on the population to avoid intense outdoor activities.

Additionally, conditions are expected to remain “extremely hot” over the next few days.
The previous record was registered on August 22, 2017, when the temperature reached 36.6 °C before the passage of Typhoon Hato.
According to scientists, climate warming caused by human activities makes extreme heat episodes more frequent and more severe.
