The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, described this Tuesday the situation regarding the hantavirus outbreak as “stable”, which has claimed the lives of three people, while reiterating that the risk to the global population is “low.”

“The number of cases reported to the WHO remains thirteen, including three deaths”, Tedros specified in his latest update published on social media about this disease, highlighting that “no new deaths have been recorded for almost a month.”
Subsequently, the head of the health organization asserted that it continues to collaborate “closely” with “all relevant governments” in order to “monitor” the condition of isolated patients and quarantined passengers and crew members.

It is worth recalling that already in mid-May, Tedros emphasized that the hantavirus outbreak detected on the luxury cruise ship ‘MV Hondius’ posed a “low risk” to the global population, although he noted then that new cases could be registered in the following days.
