Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that “the pillars of Iran’s terrorist regime” are “cracked” due to the offensive launched on February 28 alongside the United States against the Asian country, before insisting that Tehran “has paid a very high price.”
“The pillars of this terrorist regime in Iran have cracked. It will never be what it was again, and I tell you: in the end it will fall,” he said during a farewell event for the outgoing head of Israel’s Intelligence services — the Mossad — David Barnea, according to a statement published by his office.
“Let everyone who conspires against Israel know that their plans will fail. The price they will pay will be very high. The price Iran has already paid is very high,” he said, while praising Barnea’s work during his five years leading the Mossad, which he described as “some of the most crucial” in Israel’s history.
Israel and the United States launched a surprise offensive against Iran on February 28 amid talks between Washington and Tehran to try to reach a new nuclear agreement. Currently, there are ongoing contacts between U.S. and Iranian delegations regarding a possible peace agreement, with a ceasefire in effect since April 8.
