La Ley, one of the most influential Latin American rock bands of the late eighties, will return to the stage to revisit in a complete and innovative way the hits from their first cassette, called 1988.

“La Ley en Stratocaster & Strings” is a musical event that will revive in an unconventional way the album with which La Ley made their debut on the national music scene, turning the six songs included in the album into unique pieces.
It is a historic concert that will bring together after years Shía Arbulú, the original voice of the band who returns to Chile for this event, with two of the fundamental members from that first stage: keyboardist Rodrigo “Coti” Aboitiz and bassist and guitarist Luciano Rojas.
It will be a reunion full of symbolism, as it will also feature three Fender Stratocaster guitars, including two instruments that belonged to Andrés Bobe, the remembered mentor and essential figure in the band’s history. Their presence will turn the show into an encounter with part of the material and sound heritage that shaped the group in its early years.
The new arrangements will be in charge of the national musician Sokio, who will work on the original repertoire to expand it towards an orchestral and contemporary dimension, making acoustic instruments, strings, and winds interact.
“We reimagine the original sound of La Ley 1988, fusing foundational pop rock with strings and winds. This orchestral version not only preserves the essence but elevates it: Sokio’s arrangements interact with electronic and digital elements, creating an atmosphere where the organic and synthetic mutually enhance each other for an immersive sound experience,” previews Germán Bobe, project director.

The result will be an immersive and cinematic sound and visual experience, designed to connect the memory of an era with new ways of listening to and experiencing that repertoire.
The proposal promises to move both longtime fans and lovers of musical avant-garde through an innovative fusion.
As Bobe assures, “the audience will live an immersive experience where music and image are inseparable. They will see a unique audiovisual projection, a film created specifically to accompany each note, which interacts in real time with the acoustic instruments. From the grandeur of the original Fender guitars to that of the symphonic arrangements, everything comes together to create an intense, contemporary, and deeply emotional atmosphere that pays tribute to the history of 1988.”
The show, part of the activities of the cultural preservation platform Volver a La Ley, will also include an intimate conversation led by the distinguished music journalist Marisol García.
The presentation will also mark the launch of Reconfiguración, a new remix album inspired by the vinyl reissue of the 88 recording. Exceptionally, Shía Arbulú will include a creative writing masterclass during her visit on September 1, 2, and 4 at GAM.
