The authorities of Nepal have raised this Tuesday to nearly a thousand the dead from the devastating floods recorded last week near the border with China, while lowering to about 3,900 the missing, among whom are 583 foreigners.

The National Authority for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMA, for its acronym in English) has stated in a communiqué published through social networks that so far 987 bodies have been recovered, including 321 in Chitwan, 216 in East Nawalparasi, and 170 in West Nawalparasi.
Likewise, it has specified that 3,916 people remain missing, among them 639 workers from a hydroelectric plant affected by the flood, before adding that emergency services have managed to rescue 11,814 people, including 253 foreigners.

The agency has estimated 279 injured, including 168 who have already been discharged, while stating that there are more than 21,000 agents deployed for search and rescue operations, in the course of which humanitarian aid is also being delivered to some of the affected.
To these figures are added at least 16 dead and around 550 missing in Chinese territory – among them 261 foreign citizens -, as indicated by the authorities of the Asian giant, as well as three bodies recovered in India.
