The United States Army has raised to more than 90 the ships against which it has intervened within the framework of its blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, including 87 that have been “redirected” in the area, amid the open conflict with Iran following the surprise offensive launched on February 28 alongside Israel against the Asian country.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has indicated in a brief message on social media that the siege “in regional waters” has so far allowed “redirecting 87 commercial ships, immobilizing three and boarding two” in order to “ensure full compliance with the blockade.”

Washington imposed the blockade in response to navigation restrictions in the area applied by Iran after the aforementioned offensive. In recent days, the parties have exchanged attacks, amid the stalemate of the dialogue mediated by Pakistan to try to reach a peace agreement that ends the conflict in the Middle East.
