The officials met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who highlighted that their presence in Kyiv “works better than the Patriots,” referring to the three-day truce to avoid attacks on Kyiv and also on Moscow coinciding with the visit of the U.S. envoys.

“Today they have worked even better than the Patriot systems for our capital’s citizens. Thank you. Come more often and our people will have the chance to live a little longer,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader also reiterated his desire for peace. “We are all on the same side here. We all want there to be no war, no suffering, no deaths, and for this war to end with a just peace, just for all of us. And for the war to end in such a way that there is never a possibility of Russian aggression against Ukraine happening again,” he said.

Kushner explained that his father-in-law and president, Donald Trump, wants the deaths to end and for business opportunities to be seized.

“President Trump always says the harder, the better. If it’s worth it, you have to give everything you have and that’s why he is so determined for this war to end and the deaths to stop, for families to reunite and, hopefully, to do what he likes most, which is to focus on investing in business opportunities so that countries unite and there is prosperity and opportunities for Ukrainians and Europeans,” he said.

The U.S. envoys have held two rounds of talks with Ukrainian representatives and in the third, representatives from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany joined, Zelensky said during the day.
