Iran announces the shooting down of a US Army Predator drone over waters of the Strait of Hormuz

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced this Monday the downing of a US Army Predator drone over waters of the Strait of Hormuz, amid the open conflict in the Middle East caused by the surprise offensive launched on February 28 by the United States and Israel against the Asian country.

“A few moments ago, an advanced ‘MQ-1’ drone was intercepted and destroyed over the Strait of Hormuz by the new and advanced aerospace defense system of the Revolutionary Guard, under the control of the integrated air defense network,” the organization said, according to the Iranian public television network, IRIB.

So far, no further details have emerged about the location of the interception, about which the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has not commented, within the framework of tensions in the region and the exchanges of attacks last week, amid the stalemate in the peace talks process mediated by Pakistan.
