“In response to the detonation of an explosive device in the security zone, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) have attacked infrastructure belonging to the terrorist organization Hezbollah in southern Lebanon,” the military statement said.
According to Israel, the two soldiers were traveling in a vehicle that triggered an explosive device placed by the Lebanese armed group. The incident, it noted, occurred “in the security zone of southern Lebanon”.
In the Israeli action, “observation posts and positions used by Hezbollah terrorists to prepare and execute terrorist plans against our forces” were attacked, according to information provided by Israel.

The understanding laid the groundwork for a permanent ceasefire and included the restoration of Lebanese sovereignty in the south of the country, as well as the disarmament of Hezbollah, a measure the group has rejected.
Since then, Israel has cited security reasons and Hezbollah’s refusal of the agreement to justify its military actions in the area.
These operations are carried out within the framework of the new invasion initiated after Hezbollah launched projectiles against Israel in response to the joint offensive undertaken on February 28 by the United States and Israel against Iran.
