Oman pointed out this Saturday that the maritime navigation negotiations it held with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz were “positive and constructive”. However, the country warned that Tehran’s constant attacks on ships could “affect” said negotiations.
The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated in a statement that “the current negotiations regarding navigation management in the Strait of Hormuz continue in a positive and constructive environment.”
Likewise, the Omani ministry called to “avoid any action that affects these negotiations and the progress made, which take into account the interests of all parties.”
From the other side, a spokesperson for the Revolutionary Guard of Iran told the news agency Tasnim that the agreement with Oman would not imply the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In that sense, Iran urged Washington to stay out of the negotiations between Iran and Oman.

The Sultanate of Oman spoke out after United Arab Emirates (UAE) denounced that Tehran had attacked a tanker of the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in the strait.
Macate expressed his “rejection” of “the repeated attacks on ships during their passage through the Strait of Hormuz,” something he described as “a violation of international law and the sovereignty of territorial waters.”
Likewise, he accused that the attacks are “a threat to the security of maritime navigation, the region, and its stability.”
