Around these questions and experiences, the Spanish Cultural Center in Santiago (Avenida Providencia 927, Metro Salvador), in collaboration with the Vórtice Festival, invites you to participate in an open meeting about music and journalism with the Spanish journalist Santi Carrillo, director of the magazine Rockdelux, and Claudio Vergara, Editor of Culto at La Tercera.
The event is this Tuesday, August 25 from 7:30 p.m., in the Sala Nube of the venue. Admission is free.
A conversation featuring one of the most important voices in musical and cultural journalism in Spain, present in media since the 1980s with a sharp, organic perspective and who, above all, sensed phenomena that would later gain prestige and mass appeal. In this way, he has made a name for himself to this day in the Spanish-speaking scene, also standing out as Editorial Director of the Primavera Sound Festival.
“The conversation will propose a journey through the challenges facing music journalism today, the role of criticism in the construction of cultural memory, and the transformations experienced in the ways of discovering, listening to, and recommending music in the digital age. It will also be an opportunity to reflect on the place occupied by specialized media in the creation of communities and in the dissemination of new scenes and artists. The activity is designed for all people interested in music, regardless of their experience or connection with it. Musicians, journalists, students, collectors, cultural managers, and music lovers will find a space to share questions, experiences, and perspectives on a practice that crosses our daily life and our relationship with culture,” says a statement from the Spanish Cultural Center.

The Vórtice Festival itself will take place on August 27, 28, and 29 at the Extension Center of the University of Talca.
On that occasion, Carrillo will also be present: the professional will lead on Friday, August 28, at 11:00 a.m., the conversation Music journalism in the digital age, together with the distinguished Chilean journalist Marisol García.
There, of course, the topics to be addressed are the changes, challenges, and new ways of communicating music in digital times. Admission is also free.
