The authorities of Nepal have placed this Friday the death toll at 538 due to the severe flooding recorded on Wednesday following the rise of the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, a mountainous district near the border with the Chinese autonomous region of Tibet, on the other side of the border.
The National Authority for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMA) has indicated that the vast majority of fatalities have been recorded in the Chitwan district, with 221, followed by Nawalpur, with 134. Behind are Gorja, with 46 deaths, Nuwakot, with 37, Dhading, with 33, Tanahun, with 28, Nawalparasi, with 27 fatalities, and Rasuwa with 12.
The number of missing persons remains the same, with a total of 977 people unaccounted for, 517 of them foreigners. Among them are also 45 military personnel, 28 police officers, and 13 customs workers, as well as 15 from the immigration office.

Additionally, it has raised the number of people rescued to 3,742, as part of search and rescue operations in which the agency has highlighted the presence of six Army helicopters and nine from private companies, as reflected in these same NDRRMA data.
In this regard, it has specified that about 15,000 members of the security forces, mainly Police and Army, are participating in the search and rescue operations.
