The United States Army has labeled as “false” this Monday the statements of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard about the fire on a “supertanker” after hitting two mines on the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, where Washington has a significant military presence to ensure maritime transit in the strategic passage.

<b“No ship has hit mines in the Strait of Hormuz. This is another attempt by the Revolutionary Guard to intimidate regional commercial transport through disinformation,” said the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) in a message spread on social media in which it calls these events “false.”
The Revolutionary Guard Navy had stated during the early morning in a statement collected by the Tasnim news agency that the vessel was “completely immobilized” after catching fire due to the impact of two naval mines while “transiting the illegal route south of the Strait of Hormuz.”

“The fate of ships that violate the safety rules of the Strait of Hormuz will not be different,” it indicated, referring to the rules imposed by Tehran within the framework of its route through the Strait of Hormuz, which runs north of the strategic passage.
Iran has repeatedly spoken out against the viability of maritime transit through the southern corridor. In fact, last Tuesday, when announcing a preliminary understanding with Oman for the management of traffic through the strategic passage, Tehran assured that the pact includes the closure of this route, which the United States claims to control in coordination with regional partners.
