The president of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamed Baqer Qalibaf, stated this Monday that Tehran will respond to United States attacks by striking oil and gas facilities in the Middle East region.

“It’s simple: the oil and gas production chain here is extensive, accessible, and exposed”, said Qalibaf, who serves as head of the Iranian delegation in negotiations with the United States.
“American oil and gas companies in these waters and facilities share that exposure. Attack our assets and you will be attacked. We have already demonstrated this,” the Iranian leader stated in a social media message referring to bases “that are no longer viable.”
With this message, he responds to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who celebrated the recent U.S. attacks on oil tankers in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that “if Iran fires on U.S. ships,” Washington will “destroy and sink their tankers.” “All they have to do is not shoot at the Navy,” he said.
