The United States Army has raised to nearly one hundred the ships it has intervened against as part of its blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, including more than 90 that have been “redirected” in the area, amid the open conflict with Iran following the surprise offensive launched on February 28 alongside Israel against the Asian country.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a brief message on social media that the siege in the Arabian Sea of Iranian ports has so far allowed “redirecting 94 commercial ships, immobilizing three and boarding two” in order to “ensure full compliance with the blockade.”
Washington imposed the blockade in response to navigation restrictions in the area applied by Iran after the aforementioned offensive. In recent days, the parties have exchanged attacks, amid the stalemate of the dialogue mediated by Pakistan to try to reach a peace agreement that ends the conflict in the Middle East.
