The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has compared the “hoax” of the risk that artificial intelligence development could entail to the “scam” of climate change or the Russian interference in the US elections.

“The people who say AI is going to destroy the world and that data centers are bad for your neighborhood are the same ones who not long ago said the world would be extinguished by ‘climate change.’ That hoax never worked for them and now they are going for the next one,” Trump said in a message posted on social media in which he declares himself a “Hoax Hunter.”
He attributes these “hoaxes” to “evil revolutionaries” who, he claims, “work for people who do not have the interests of the United States in their minds.”

“I am the Hoax Hunter and right now I am breaking another hoax: that AI is going to take control, consume and destroy the world and that robots will march on our cities and get rid of all of us,” he stated. This “hoax” is “even worse than the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax or the global warming scam,” he insisted.
This message comes amid the uproar caused by the co-founder and CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, who has called to “slow down” the development pace of AI model capabilities due to the risk of “losing control” of this technology and causing “cyberattacks,” “bioterrorism,” or “serious economic problems.”
