The president of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, confirmed this Wednesday the discovery of the lifeless bodies of the five passengers of a small plane that had crashed three days ago, while heading to the country’s capital, Bogotá.

“With deep sorrow and sadness I confirm to the country the discovery of the Cessna T206 plane, registration HK-4985, which crashed while covering the route between Condoto, Chocó, and Guaymaral, in Bogotá. Unfortunately, the authorities confirmed that all its occupants were found lifeless,” he stated on his social media.

The president in his post on X also conveyed his “deep respect” to the families of the victims in a moment “of immense pain” and “irreparable loss.”

The victims were identified as Mehmet Cankaya, pilot, and the passengers Perla Constanza Álvarez, Sandy García, María Guzmán, and Yuliza Figueredo.

The aircraft belonged to the Colombian Civil Air Patrol and had departed from Condoto after carrying out a health mission in the department of Chocó, in the center of the country, according to information from the Blu Radio station.
