The Kremlin has once again on Monday hinted at veiled accusations about the involvement of the Baltic countries in the recent Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory and has stated that they do not need to prove it with evidence. “We know everything perfectly,” said the spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov.
“Our Armed Forces and our special services know where the threats come from and how they fly. This is well known, and we do not intend to prove anything to anyone,” he responded to questions at a press conference about the origin of the Ukrainian drones flying over Russian airspace.
“We know everything perfectly. No one should have any doubt,” Peskov concluded, who ruled out that for now it is among Russia’s priorities to provide evidence that several of these attacks are launched from the Baltic countries, according to the news agency Interfax.
As Ukrainian attacks beyond the front line have intensified, Russia has been warning that some of these would be launched from the Baltic countries, which in the midst of it all have also seen several of these projectiles fall on their territories, or be shot down by fighters.
In Latvia, the matter escalated to such an extent that it cost the Defense Minister his position, generating a government crisis that led to the resignation of Prime Minister Evika Silina. In Estonia, weeks ago, a Romanian fighter participating in the NATO-led regional air surveillance mission shot down one of these devices near the town of Kablakula.
