Three Iranian oil tankers were attacked and disabled this Sunday by U.S. forces. This was announced by the U.S. Central Command (Centcom) on its social media.

According to the explanation, the offensive occurred after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missiles against two U.S. Navy ships while they were patrolling regional waters.
That attack was evaded with an aircraft carrier and a guided missile destroyer. No U.S. personnel were harmed in the process.
“After Iran’s failed attacks, Centcom permanently disabled the IRGC crude oil tankers,” they stated.
As a result, two ships located off the coast of Kharg Island and near Jask were disabled. A third oil vessel, which was in the Gulf of Oman, was destroyed.

According to Central Command, these ships “are part of a multimillion-dollar shadow network that finances the IRGC and its allied groups in the region. Iran has no means to defend them.”
For his part, Admiral and Centcom commander Brad Cooper stated that they will not hesitate to defend their country’s forces and that, if necessary, they would destroy the “limited and exposed Iranian oil fleet.”
“Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If they fire on two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking three of theirs,” he emphasized.
