The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian, indicated in a press conference that the trade war announced by Washington is based on “illegal unilateral sanctions that have no foundation within the framework of International Law.”
“China opposes illegal unilateral sanctions that lack foundation and are not authorized by the United Nations Security Council,” Lin stated, according to reports collected by the state newspaper ‘Global Times’.

On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of an “economic operation” against Iran, which he described as a process of “isolation on an unprecedented scale.” Meanwhile, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has urged Beijing to participate in the campaign and impose sanctions against the Asian country.
