Venezuelan authorities updated this Tuesday the victim toll caused by the earthquakes of magnitude greater than 7 registered on June 24, reporting that the death toll increased to 5,346 people, while the injured amount to 16,740.

The information was provided by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, who detailed that, to date, emergency teams have managed to rescue 6,462 people from the areas affected by the double earthquake, whose epicenter was located in La Guaira and which also caused significant damage in Caracas and other localities in the country.
Authorities also indicated that the humanitarian emergency continues to affect thousands of families. According to the official report, more than 128,300 families have received assistance since the catastrophe occurred, while 23,100 people remain housed in 107 temporary camps set up for those affected.
In addition, 17,250 people remain in the condition of being affected.
Regarding infrastructure, the Venezuelan government reported that the earthquakes left 856 buildings affected, of which 190 completely collapsed, reflecting the magnitude of the damage caused by the seismic movement.

Search and response efforts continue with a wide deployment of human resources. They involve 2,280 international rescuers, nearly 31,000 personnel mobilized by Venezuelan authorities, and 31,745 volunteers, who maintain assistance tasks in the most affected areas.
Rodríguez also highlighted the logistical support deployed during the emergency, indicating that so far 10,965 tons of food and 40.65 million liters of water have been distributed among the affected population.
Rescue and recovery efforts have been hampered by the intense seismic activity after the main event. According to the official report, since June 24, more than 1,400 aftershocks of varying intensity have been registered, a situation that has complicated search operations and the assessment of structural damage.
