The Government of Kuwait summoned the Iranian chargé d’affaires this Wednesday to formally protest Tehran’s latest attacks against the country, which have left one dead and caused material damage at Kuwait International Airport, and to inform him of the expulsion of two members of the Iranian diplomatic mission.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a communiqué published on social media that it has delivered an “official note of protest” and communicated “the decision to reduce the number of workers at the Iranian Embassy” by declaring two of them ‘persona non grata,’ who must leave the country “within a maximum period of 24 hours.”
The Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister, Hamad Sulaiman al Mashaan, emphasized that the decision comes “after the continued and blatant Iranian attacks” against the country, which he described as “a flagrant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity” and International Law.
In this regard, he highlighted “the categorical rejection of the use of its territory or airspace to carry out hostile acts against any country” and rejected Iran’s “unfounded accusations” in this regard, while stating that “repetition of these claims cannot in any way justify attacks against Kuwaiti territory.”
Al Mashaan also stressed “the full and inherent right of the State of Kuwait to defend itself and to take all necessary measures to preserve its sovereignty, safeguard its security, and protect its territory, airspace, citizens, and residents against these systematic hostile practices, in line with International Law.”

Kuwait’s statements came after the Iranian Government accused the United States on Wednesday of again violating the ceasefire with its latest attacks against a ship and Qeshm Island and stressed that these acts were carried out “from two countries in the region,” framing its bombings against Kuwait and Bahrain as “the inherent right to defense.”
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has claimed the launch of “with missiles and drones” the headquarters of the United States Navy’s Fifth Fleet located in Bahrain, as well as other air bases in the Middle East and a US-flagged ship, as a “response” to a US attack on one of its vessels in the Strait of Hormuz area and a communications tower on Qeshm Island, confirmed by Washington.
This new exchange of attacks takes place amid mutual accusations of violations of the April ceasefire and the stalemate of open negotiations to try to reach a peace agreement to end the Middle East conflict, which began on February 28 due to a surprise offensive launched by Israel and the United States against Iran.
