The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has expressed doubts that the drone that crashed last night in Romania is of Russian origin and has offered to order an “objective investigation” of the first incident of this kind with injuries on the soil of a member state of the European Union and NATO.

“Russia is willing to carry out an objective investigation if the remains of the drone that crashed in Romania are handed over,” Putin stated in his first reaction to the event, during a press conference reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
The Russian president considered it essential that this investigation take place because “no one can say for sure what the origin of the drone is until the remains are examined” and recalled that it would not be the first time a Ukrainian drone crashes in a neighboring country.
“Ukrainian drones have flown over several countries, and the first reaction has always been that the Russians are attacking,” the Russian president added in this regard about the explosion in the city of Galati, which has raised the alert level among the partners of the Atlantic Alliance.
