Only 33% of respondents in the four-day survey approved of Trump’s management in the White House, while 64% disapproved. Trump’s approval rating, which dropped from 35% in a poll that ended earlier this month and is the lowest of his current term, matches the worst level reached in his previous term in December 2017.
After returning to the White House in 2025 with just under half the country approving his presidency, Trump’s popularity was affected this year after he ordered attacks against Iran along with his ally Israel. The resulting conflict paralyzed a fifth of the world’s oil trade, causing a rise in gasoline prices that is affecting American households and Trump’s Republican allies defending majorities in Congress in the November midterm elections, Reuters points out.
According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, about 80% of Americans — including 87% of Democrats and 71% of Republicans — believe that U.S. intervention in Iran “will be prolonged for a considerable period.” Only 16% thought the conflict would likely end in a few weeks.
