About thirty public buildings suffered damage and at least three people were injured after the magnitude 7.2 earthquake on the Richter scale that struck Peru yesterday Thursday.

The earthquake, which occurred 35 kilometers north of Coracora in the Ayacucho region in the south of the country, caused damage to nine educational institutions in Ayacucho and two in Apurímac, as well as damage to ten Health Service Provider Institutions (IPRESS) in the sector and two in Cusco.
The region’s electrical grid has also been affected, with an outage affecting 6,023 users in the province of Nazca and 2,990 users in the district of Puquio.
In response to this problem, the COES of the Ministry of Energy and Mines has activated its contingency plan to promptly resolve the power outage and assist those affected.
This is one of the three major seismic events that have affected Latin America recently, as prior to this, Colombia and Venezuela were also hit by earthquakes that caused severe damage.
In the case of Colombia, on August 10 a magnitude 7.4 earthquake shook the center and west of the country. The epicenter was located near the municipality of San José del Palmar, in the department of Chocó.
According to reports from the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) of the country, the death toll has risen this Friday to 321 people.
Likewise, the number of 4,595 injured, 257 missing, and 364 rescued has been reported.
The UNGRD also reports that more than 30,800 homes are destroyed, nearly 152,000 damaged, and more than 300 buildings collapsed.
In the case of Venezuela, the country was hit on June 24 by two successive earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, this tragedy being the largest in recent times.
According to the latest official figures, there have been 6,438 deaths, and 86,358 people have been treated in hospitals.
Regarding the damage, the National Government has reported that in the infrastructure inspection a total of 59,109 homes have been evaluated, classified according to the level of risk. Of these, 34,680 are habitable, 13,733 restricted, and 10,696 are high risk.
Along with this, they indicate, the collection of 528,222.30 tons of debris has been carried out, a volume equivalent to 25.15% of the projected work in the deployment zones.
