From the United States Southern Command confirmed a new attack carried out this Saturday on a boat in the Pacific Ocean that left three men dead.
According to the command, a “lethal kinetic attack was carried out against a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was traveling known drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was involved in drug trafficking operations.”
The direction of this operation was led by General Francis L. Donovan and they pointed out that during this action no U.S. military forces were injured.
Only during this week, three other similar attacks and other interceptions of boats carrying drugs were reported.

According to a count by Agence France Presse, since the “Southern Spear” operation began last September, more than 200 people have died from U.S. attacks against boats accused by the country of being linked to drug trafficking.
Organizations that advocate for human rights have alleged that these military actions could be illegal, and that U.S. forces have not presented evidence about the illicit activities the attacked boats are accused of.
A few weeks ago, the United Nations (UN) special rapporteur, Ben Saul, even described the U.S. actions as a “new fictitious war against drug terrorism” and stated that it is completely illegal under international law.
