A group of eight Muslim countries issued a joint statement this Thursday to highlight the dangers facing efforts to achieve peace, including the plan of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in the Gaza Strip due to the “continuous violations” committed by Israel.

The Foreign Ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, and Egypt, have warned that Israel is jeopardizing the political resolution of the conflict and further deepening the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip with its actions.
“Israel’s stance is undermining efforts to implement this second phase of the United States peace plan, especially after Hamas and the rest of the Palestinian factions have accepted this roadmap which includes, among other issues, the disarmament of these groups,” the statement reads.
Likewise, they have emphasized that these “continuous violations” by Israel in the Strip “cannot be considered in isolation from the attacks carried out by settlers in occupied West Bank, the illegal expansion of settlements, and unilateral measures to alter the ‘status quo’ in Jerusalem.
In this regard, they have reproached Israel for attempting to impose its interests by force and thereby “undermine the foundations of the two-State solution and marginalize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people,” even constituting a “flagrant violation” of International Law and UN resolutions.
These eight countries have urged the international community to assume its responsibilities and act timely and effectively to force Israel to comply with its legal obligations, while holding accountable for the “serious violations” that have been committed in recent years.
“The only path to achieve a just and comprehensive peace is the start of a serious political process leading to the implementation of the two-State solution, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” they concluded.
