The Government of Iran has rejected this Wednesday the accusations from the United States about the alleged plans of Tehran to assassinate high-ranking officials of the North American country, including the president, Donald Trump, and has maintained that “the thief thinks everyone is of his condition.”
“Pretending to be a victim cannot whitewash the brutal war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against the nation of Iran,” said the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei, in a message published on social media.
Baqaei also attached statements made on Tuesday by the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, before a Congressional committee, where he claimed that several “Iranian agents” had been detained and that “they planned the assassination of U.S. political leaders, including the President of the United States.”
The United States and Iran are engaged in negotiations mediated by Pakistan to try to reach a peace agreement that ends the conflict in the Middle East, opened on February 28 due to a surprise offensive launched by Israel and the United States against Iran, in which the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and numerous high-ranking officials of the Asian country were killed.
