Two Chilean citizens are in police custody in Missouri, in the U.S. Midwest, accused of being part of a criminal gang operating in several states across the United States, robbing homes of wealthy people.

The ongoing investigation focuses on the robbery that Fabián Navarro and Marcelo Telecheah committed last month at a residence in Oxford, Mississippi, from where they stole jewelry valued at US$140,000 (more than $125 million)
Oxford police tracked the two men through traffic cameras and license plate readers to Howell County, Missouri. There, last week, the criminals’ car was stopped by the local sheriff.
Although the Chileans fled on foot from the police checkpoint, they were caught by officers after a chase, in which one of them was subdued with non-lethal ammunition, as reported by the local media WTVA.
Howell authorities indicated that at the time of the arrest, Navarro and Telecheah were carrying some of the jewelry they had allegedly stolen.
Inside the vehicle they were traveling in, authorities also found a large amount of jewelry, including rings, bracelets, necklaces, and loose precious stones.
The investigation also linked the case to other similar robberies recorded in different states, such as Alabama.
Both men now face charges of robbery with burglary, along with other federal accusations.
