The United Nations on Tuesday accused Israel of “intensifying” its attacks against the Gaza Strip in recent days, leaving dozens of civilian casualties, and reiterated that “no place is safe” in the enclave despite the ceasefire agreed in November 2025 following the proposal presented by the United States.

“The Israeli Army has intensified its attacks in Gaza in recent days, causing the death and injury of dozens of Palestinians: children, women and men,” said the spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Thameen al Kheetan, who noted that these bombings “have hit residential buildings, at least one tent housing internally displaced persons and other densely populated areas.”
“Nine months after the announcement of a ceasefire, no place is safe for Palestinians in Gaza,” he stated, while pointing out that the office has verified the deaths of 685 Palestinians, including 283 women and children, between October 2025 and mid-April 2026. “Our verification work is still ongoing,” he said.
In this regard, he specified that the organization has documented the deaths of at least 57 Palestinians between June 13 and 20, including six children, before highlighting that 34 of them “were killed far from the ‘yellow line’ imposed by Israel,” where its troops are deployed and which occupies more than half of the Strip.
“The killing of civilians in these attacks raises concerns about continued violations of International Humanitarian Law, war crimes and other possible atrocity crimes in Gaza,” Al Kheetan pointed out, recalling that “under International Law, deliberately attacking civilians constitutes a war crime.”
Furthermore, he lamented that the Palestinian population in Gaza “remains trapped in an increasingly reduced area, with the ‘yellow line’ being constantly moved westward by the Israeli occupying power,” which “represents a continuous threat to the lives” of Palestinians.

Al Kheetan criticized that “the Israeli Army appears to routinely shoot at Palestinians simply for being near that line, in violation of International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law.”
“The violations, suffering and misery that Palestinians in Gaza continue to endure cannot be ignored,” stressed the spokesperson, who insisted that the international community “must take urgent measures to demand full respect for the ceasefire, end all violations and ensure accountability and justice.”
The Gazan Ministry of Health raised the number of dead to 1,168 and injured to 3,798 due to Israeli attacks since the ceasefire, a period in which 802 bodies have also been recovered from areas from which Israeli troops have withdrawn following the aforementioned agreement.
Likewise, it stated that since the beginning of the offensive launched by Israel against the enclave after the attacks of October 7, 2023 – which left some 1,200 dead and about 250 kidnapped, according to the official balance – 73,293 dead and 173,906 injured have been documented, including ten fatalities and 42 injured by attacks perpetrated by Israel during the last 24 hours.
