The rising Chilean alt-pop singer-songwriter AKRIILA presents her highly anticipated second studio album, “lucy looked at the world and noticed it was spinning”, available today on major streaming platforms through Atlantic Records. The album was produced by AKRIILA alongside heartgaze and Vinco, with additional production by umru, and channels a strong sense of optimism. The project draws visual and conceptual inspiration from diverse references such as The Beatles, Ann Demeulemeester, and the artistic work of shelestvetrovki. By addressing disorder from an intimate perspective, the album finds beauty amid emotional and sonic chaos. Throughout the project, AKRIILA incorporates sounds and images recorded by herself in various places around the world, including Chile, New York, Madrid, Tokyo, and Paris.
Regarding the album, and in the context of her recent cover for NME, AKRIILA reflects: “Everything is completely chaotic; you are only looking at your own problems, in an extremely self-absorbed way. Then comes a turning point: a true ray of light has to enter through the window for you to understand that there is something beyond. That the world is spinning and that I am growing”.
The release is accompanied by the official music video of one of the album’s standout songs, “abrázame”. Among other highlights of the project are the singles “partedemipartedeti” and “roger”, as well as “suave”, a collaboration with digicore artist Jane Remover that marked AKRIILA’s debut on Atlantic Records. The reception of “suave” was immediate: Rolling Stone en Español described it as “an ideal introduction to AKRIILA’s new era, a bilingual, chaotic, and emotionally intense hit that further expands the Chilean artist’s sonic universe,” also highlighting how both innovators combine intimate vocals, processed synthesizers, and elements of indie-hyperpop. All the songs on the album also feature complementary official audiovisual pieces, available on AKRIILA’s YouTube channel.
To accompany the release, AKRIILA will embark on an extensive world tour as the main artist, after completing her first leg in the United States, which included a three-night residency at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, New York, as well as performances in Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. This fall, the tour will reach Europe with dates in the United Kingdom, France, and Spain, then continue with a Latin American leg covering Mexico, Central America, and South America.
