During the night, gunfire, explosions, and heavy weapons fire were heard in different parts of the city, especially around the Diori Hamani International Airport.
According to the Nigerien media ActuNiger, the Defense and Security Forces deployed to several strategic points and established security perimeters around the affected areas.
So far, Nigerien authorities have not provided an official casualty report nor confirmed the identity of the attackers.

The Diori Hamani Airport and Air Base 101 had already been the target of an attack in January 2026, later claimed by the Islamic State.
In June, another attack was recorded against these facilities, attributed to a group linked to Al Qaeda.
Niger is governed by a military junta led by General Abdourahamane Tchiani, who took power after the July 2023 coup d’état.
