The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned this Friday the “silence” of the Gaza Strip Ceasefire Board and its executive director, Bulgarian diplomat Nicolai Mladenov, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Thursday that he had ordered his Army to occupy 70% of the Palestinian enclave.
“We condemn the silence of the Ceasefire Board and its executive director, Nicolai Mladenov, regarding Netanyahu’s statements about his intention to control 70% of Gaza’s territory,” said its spokesperson, Hazem Qasem, in a note released through the newspaper Filastin.
In it, the spokesperson also stated that the Israeli leader’s statements “constitute a violation of the ceasefire plan and the agreement” formulated by U.S. President Donald Trump and signed in October 2025.
Similarly, Qasem warned that “ignoring these statements and not condemning the occupation policies and displacement plans raises doubts about the commitment of the sponsoring parties to fulfilling their promises”.
He then pointed out that the countries participating in the Ceasefire Board, a total of 28, “must take a clear stance regarding Netanyahu’s statements and take measures to end the aggressive occupation policies.”
His statements come after the head of the Israeli Executive affirmed that his armed forces already fully control “60% of the Gaza Strip territory and (his) order is to reach 70%”, above the so-called “yellow line” to which the troops withdrew under the mentioned agreement and which covers more than half of the enclave.
During this Thursday, the Gaza Ministry of Health indicated that since the ceasefire came into effect, 922 deaths and 2,786 injuries have been confirmed, while 781 bodies have been recovered from the areas from which Israeli soldiers withdrew.
