The head of the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament, Ebrahim Azizi, stated this Saturday that “it makes no sense” to negotiate with the United States until Washington accepts Tehran’s terms, amid a deadlock in the negotiations to end the war launched in February by the United States and Israel.

“Until the US side accepts all of Iran’s conditions, dialogue and negotiation make no sense,” the senior parliamentary official said.
This message is a new sign of the stalemate in contacts between the parties to end hostilities around the Strait of Hormuz, the scene to which the offensive initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv has moved.
Iranian authorities will hold a meeting next Monday in Oman with Persian Gulf countries and Iraq, with whom they will discuss the results of their negotiations with Muscat for the establishment of safe routes in the Strait of Hormuz. The opening of the strategic passage is one of the cards Iran holds in the negotiations, although it conditions it on the United States ceasing attacks and fulfilling the conditions agreed in the memorandum of understanding signed last June.
