The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, stated this Monday that Moscow and North Korea are working together to create a “new and just world order”, based on the principles of multipolarity, equality, and consideration of the national interests of both countries.

The head of Russian diplomacy made the statements in a message addressed to his North Korean counterpart, Choi Son Hui, reported by the Russian state agency TASS.
“Today, Moscow and Pyongyang remain united in their support for the creation of a new and just world order based on the principles of multipolarity, genuine equality, and consideration of national interests,” Lavrov said.
The Russian foreign minister also reaffirmed the intention to deepen the ties established by the leaders of both countries, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.
In this regard, he expressed Moscow’s intention to “continue firmly pursuing the course set” by both leaders towards the “comprehensive deepening of Russian-Korean cooperation”.
According to Lavrov, strengthening this relationship “benefits” both Russia and North Korea and “contributes to regional and international security”.
Relations between the two countries have significantly tightened since Putin and Kim signed in June 2024 a treaty of “comprehensive strategic partnership”, an agreement that deepened bilateral cooperation in various areas.
Since then, North Korea has reinforced its support for Russia in the context of the war in Ukraine. Kiev and its Western allies have denounced, among other actions, the deployment of thousands of North Korean troops to support Moscow.
At the same time, Russia and North Korea have intensified their political and diplomatic contacts, in line with the deepening of cooperation advocated this Monday by Lavrov.
