U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio paid tribute this Thursday to conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed a year ago while participating in a debate with students in Utah, assuring that he will honor his legacy and make “the enemies of civilization accountable.”

“Charlie Kirk had a unique gift for expressing and defending what is good: the goodness of family, faith, and the United States. Today, one year ago, he was killed for that,” said the head of U.S. diplomacy in a social media message on the anniversary.
Rubio has promised to honor Kirk’s legacy “by building great things and making the enemies of civilization accountable.”

Kirk died a year ago in a shooting carried out by an attacker with far-left ideology and became a martyr for the ultra-conservative American cause linked to President Donald Trump, who at his large funeral highlighted him as a personal friend.
The activist was farewelled in a public funeral attended by the top officials of the White House at the State Farm stadium in Arizona, with a capacity for more than 60,000 people.
