The Argentine government carried out this Thursday a deep reorganization in the presidential residence Quinta de Olivos, motivated by a series of “leaks” about the activity of Javier Milei and his closest circle, according to official sources.
The measure caused the departure of the civilian staff who worked in the second place of exercise of functions of the Argentine president, located in the town of Olivos, Buenos Aires Province. A total of 12 employees, including the until today mayor of Olivos, Osvaldo Javier Sosa, according to the newspaper La Nación.
In an official announcement, the trans-Andean Presidency stated that now “the Military House will assume full responsibility for the security functions of the Presidential Residence, as well as the temporary residences of the President of the Nation and his family.”
Thus, after the changes ordered by the libertarian leader, the military body that depends on the general secretary, Karina Milei, will be in charge of the security of the president and also of carrying out tasks that have historically been performed by civilian staff, as detailed by Página 12.
The process started this Thursday includes dismissals and reassignment of tasks regarding the staff of the General Administration of the Presidential Residence of Olivos, an area that is dissolved with the new scheme.
Official sources who spoke with La Nación said that the profound change in the place where Milei lives “is framed in a series of leaks that have been brought to the government. So, a security reinforcement was decided.”
“The decision is for security. An investigation was carried out that determined there is a risk for the information and also for security, hence the determination regarding these employees,” they added.
They then specified that the Military House will have command of the administration of Olivos, but clarified that this does not mean that all tasks within the presidential residence will be carried out by personnel from that force or with military rank.

“It does not mean that the military will perform civilian activities. But the people who have a relationship with the President will work under the orders of the Military House,” they pointed out from the Casa Rosada.
Together with the official version of the measure, which has no precedent in recent Argentine history, different versions about the possible reason for the dismissal of the staff began to circulate. Among them, rumors that suggest Milei got angry because of the decompensation of one of his dogs, blaming one of the Residence employees for the situation, according to Página 12.
The president’s suspicion would have been that they tried to poison his pets, although from the inner circle of the head of state they say that this version “is nonsense” and that this was not the reason. However, they do assure that “there were information leaks.”
Also, on the other hand, there are suspicions of exorbitant hiring and purchases not only in the gardening area of the Quinta, but also in the purchase of food, such as, for example, meat.
The head of the public sector employees union ATE Capital, Daniel Catalano, told La Nación about the dismissed, revealing that the officials “were not allowed to enter. They were sent home to wait for the telegram.”
The union leader assured the trans-Andean media that the officials were also not given reasons for the dismissals and detailed that among them there is gardening, administrative, and kitchen staff, among others.
