The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, lamented the “devastating blow” that the Russian Armed Forces have inflicted again during the past night in Kyiv, through a large-scale attack that has already left 17 dead and about fifty injured.
Zelensky again emphasized that many lives could have been saved if they had the necessary interceptor missiles, in line with the intense demands he has been making to his partners in recent weeks, including the licenses that Washington has already granted to manufacture Patriot.
“It is very important that partners understand that delays in supplies or lack of readiness to transfer anti-ballistic systems lead precisely to these terrible casualties and this destruction,” he said on social media, where he asked Ukraine’s allies who are not in a position to make these deliveries to at least pressure Russia with sanctions.
“A significant part of Russia’s ballistic production is not under sanctions,” pointed out the president of Ukraine, urging both the G7 and the EU to take “new steps” in this direction towards “the protection of life.”
Zelensky detailed that Russian forces used during the past night 24 ballistic missiles, four Zircon cruise missiles, and 115 drones. “The main target of the attack was warehouses of civilian companies, in addition to attacks on infrastructure and a train station,” he denounced.
Meanwhile, the air alert in the region continues. The State Emergency Service has reported that the attacks have affected the districts of Brovary, Bucha, and Fastiv.
On the other hand, the head of the state administration of the Donetsk region, Vadym Filashkin, ordered the evacuation of minors from certain areas of Kramatorsk amid the wave of Russian attacks on Ukrainian territory.
“This is a difficult but necessary decision. The security situation is deteriorating, so it is unacceptable to leave children under a constant threat of Russian attacks. I ask parents not to delay and to cooperate with the evacuation teams,” he said in a message on social media.
The measure affects 525 children from 424 families residing in the city, as well as in Krasnotorka and Bilenke, in the metropolitan area of Kramatorsk. “The children will be evacuated together with their parents or other legal representatives,” added Filashkin.
