186 years of Chilean weddings in photographs

The book ‘Archivo Brügmann: Fotografías de matrimonios en Chile 1840–2026’ reconstructs, through 200 images rescued from auctions, attics, and family donations, what wedding photographs reveal about their respective eras: the color of the dress that marked social class, the law that defined the woman’s place, the time when the toast had to end to arrive before the curfew. The book, edited together with Amo Santiago with the support of Fondart Región Metropolitana 2025, was launched last week.
