Cardenales is the upcoming Chilean series that will arrive on the Prime Video catalog. Based on the novel of the same name by Argentine writer Claudia Piñeiro published in 2020, it follows the devastating story of a family destroyed by a crime.
Narrated through two timelines, the fiction revolves around how the Sardá family – a religious clan led by Adolfo (Alfredo Castro) and Dolores (Paulina García) – deals with the consequences of a murder that happened three decades ago.
In 1986, Ana (Octavia Bernasconi), the youngest daughter, is found dismembered and burned in a vacant lot. Her case is closed without achieving justice and the whole family accepts the pain in silence, except Lía (Vivianne Dietz), who chooses to distance herself.
30 years later, in 2018, Lía (played by Ignacia Baeza) returns to Santiago to accompany her dying father, whose last wish is to know the true circumstances of Ana’s death.
Between the past and the present, Cardenales “unravels a story marked by religious extremism, forbidden love, and a web of lies that ended up destroying them all,” details the synopsis.
Composed of six episodes, the fiction features Pablo Culell as executive producer and showrunner, and is directed by national filmmaker Pepa San Martín and Argentine Fabiana Tiscornia. The production is handled by the Argentine company Underground.
The cast also includes Amparo Noguera, Paula Luchsinger, Clemente Rodriguez, Marcelo Alonso, Giordano Rossi, Pablo Cerda, Camilo Rojas, Muriel Santa Ana, Carolina Kopelioff, Rodrigo Walker, Paulo Brunetti, Eduardo Miglionico, and Geraldine Neary.
According to the company revealed during the first edition of Prime Video Presents Latin America, Cardenales will be available on the streaming platform on September 16.
