Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al Zaidi has called for an emergency meeting of the National Security Ministerial Council this Wednesday following the latest attacks carried out by the United States and Saudi Arabia against the country.
After the meeting, a detailed statement is expected to be released about the events and decisions made following the “precision” bombings carried out by these two countries against pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.
These attacks against Iraq have occurred, according to Saudi Arabia, shortly after the country intercepted and shot down several drones aimed at oil facilities in the east of the country and as tensions rise in the region.

For its part, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has explained that US and Saudi fighter jets have attacked “multiple logistical and weapons facilities” of “terrorists in eastern Iraq”, arguing that these attacks are in “response” to the “more than 30 drone airstrikes carried out by the Revolutionary Guard over the last 72 hours” against Saudi territory.
Saudi Arabia has reported shooting down dozens of missiles and drones fired by Iran and aligned groups in the region since the start in February of the offensive unleashed by Israel and the United States against Iran, which has responded with bombings against Israeli territory and US interests in the region, including military bases.
