Trump announces an agreement for the “total disarmament” of Hamas as part of his peace plan for Gaza

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Thursday that the Peace Board reached an agreement for the “total disarmament” of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and “other armed groups” in Gaza, asserting that, in this way, the enclave will be in the hands of “a new Palestinian government at the service of its people.”

“Today, the Peace Board reached a historic agreement for the total disarmament of Hamas and the rest of the armed groups in Gaza,” the president reported in a message on social media.

In his post on Truth Social, the North American head of state also stated that this measure is a “monumental step toward lasting peace and security”.

This pact, highlighted the Republican leader, is vital so that “Gaza is finally governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Peace Board to help the Palestinian people”.

“At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, as Gaza will cease to be a base for terrorist attacks. This is an important milestone in the implementation of Trump’s 20-Point Plan,” he added.

He then specified that the agreement will be carried out in carefully structured phases. “Once disarmament is completed, Israeli forces will withdraw and the International Stabilization Force will work with a new Palestinian police force to ensure the security of Gaza for its residents and neighbors,” he detailed.

Trump also thanked the mediating countries – Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey – for their important efforts, “and especially my extraordinary team, whose tireless work made this historic breakthrough possible.”

“We will not allow the threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 to recover! With this agreement, Gaza will finally be in the hands of a new Palestinian government that serves its people,” he concluded.
