The President of the United States, Donald Trump, assured this Thursday that he would do exactly the same regarding his decision to start a war against Iran, even if it meant a defeat for the Republican Party in the midterm elections – the ‘midterms’ – on November 4, an outcome he also claims not to believe in.

“If I had to do it again, I would do exactly the same,” Trump said when asked in an interview on the conservative Fox News channel if he regretted any decision regarding the Iran war. “I don’t believe in the word ‘regret’”, he assured.
The Republican magnate thus responded to the scenario posed by journalist Laura Ingraham, regarding that perhaps, if he had not launched his offensive against Tehran, the Republican Party “would be smoothly heading towards a victory in the ‘midterms’”. “You don’t know that,” Trump accused in a brief interruption.
“Let’s suppose everything went smoothly, but Iran had a nuclear weapon: they would use it, they are crazy. They would have wiped out Israel, they would have wiped out the Middle East and would have started attacking a couple of our cities”, he stated.
However, when Ingraham – conservative but critical of the U.S. military campaign in the Islamic Republic – raised the possibility that, once decided to intervene in the Asian country, “go all in and finish them off”, the U.S. president took the elections as an excuse: “Maybe I won’t do it because of the elections”.

Reiterating his prediction that the war will end “right after” the ‘midterms’ and adding “or maybe it ends earlier,” the White House occupant again pointed to an alleged attempt of Iranian interference in the midterm elections.
“They are trying to do everything possible to get me out of power because they believe the Democrats will essentially allow them to have a nuclear weapon,” he argued.
Finally, in the same assumption that the Democratic Party – which he referred to as “a bunch of scoundrels” – managed to control the Senate and the House of Representatives, and threw his agenda to the ground, Trump again refused to regret starting the Iran war, maintaining that “it is what it is.”
