“The United States has taken strong actions against multiple entities, individuals, and vessels that facilitate the destabilizing activities of the Iranian regime,” states the press release from the State Department signed by its spokesperson Thomas Pigott.
Among these activities, the statement includes “attacks against U.S. forces and their allies in the region, illicit arms acquisition, cyber intrusions into U.S. infrastructure and trafficking of energy products whose sale finances terrorism globally.”
According to the statement, the sanctions target Iranian military personnel responsible for arms acquisition and who lead attacks against U.S. military or regional partners.
Also against “entities based in Iran that gathered intelligence to attack U.S. forces and their allies, and a supply network that provided for Iran’s military and missile programs.”

Another document, published simultaneously by the State Department, revealed that the sanctions include the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, Ahmad Vahidi; the commander of the Aerospace Force of the Revolutionary Guard, Hosein Majid Musavi Eftejari; the commander of the Jatam al Anbiya operations headquarters, Alí Abdolahi; the commander of the Iranian Army, Amir Hatami, and the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Rezsa Talaei Nik.
“They also target a cyber group led by the regime, responsible for extensive intrusions into critical U.S. infrastructure,” adds the U.S. diplomacy, referring in the cited document to the “Cyber-Electronic Command of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard”.
Likewise, the measure affects a group of carriers and agents moving Iranian oil, and other petroleum and petrochemical products, through the United Arab Emirates, China, Singapore, and Europe “to finance the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, designated by the United States, and other elements of the regime,” the note adds.
The announcement of these sanctions concludes with “a call to the international community to join” Washington “in the task of holding these actors accountable,”
