The United States Army reported this Wednesday that it has prevented the passage of two merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz, in the first interceptions of vessels after reestablishing the naval blockade on Iranian ports and ships in the area.

“Since the naval blockade against Iranian ports was resumed 17 hours ago, US forces have diverted two merchant ships attempting to bypass the blockade”, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported in a social media message.
The US Army “remains alert and prepared to ensure full compliance with the measures.”
CENTCOM announced the reintroduction of the blockade on Iranian ports starting at 10:00 p.m. this Tuesday (Spanish peninsular time), amid Washington’s recent strategy shift with the resumption of the military campaign against Iran, including numerous bombings against the Central Asian country. This new phase of the conflict takes place amid tensions with Iran, after the White House declared the preliminary agreement signed in June for a ceasefire broken.
On this same Wednesday, the United States Army completed a new wave of attacks against Iran, specifically in an operation against Greater Tumb Island, bombings framed within its strategy to “further weaken” the military capabilities with which Iran launches attacks against commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
