China has completely rejected the accusations made by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who, last night in a speech to the nation, denounced that the Beijing authorities had interfered in the development of the 2020 elections.
Trump and the United States Government accused China of perpetrating “the largest leak of electoral data in history” by illicitly acquiring “220 million records of American voters” in 18 states across the country through “a data exploitation unit” created “specifically for this new project.”
The Chinese response came this Friday from the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian, who directly accused Trump and his agencies of fabricating this entire story.
“A complete fabrication and malicious defamation that was proven years ago to have no basis,” the spokesperson responded at a press conference, before insisting that China strictly adheres to a principle of non-interference in its diplomatic relations which Washington, he implied, has ignored for decades.
“The international community knows perfectly well who habitually interferes in the internal affairs of other countries, who indiscriminately carries out extensive surveillance operations, businesses, and ordinary citizens, and steals data worldwide on a massive scale,” he stated.
Therefore, China asks the United States to reflect “on its own conduct” and to stop making “baseless accusations” against Beijing.
