The pro-Iranian militias Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced this Thursday a $10 million reward for whoever assassinates the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in a new escalation of tension between groups allied with Iran and Washington.

Through a statement, the organization indicated that the funds come from contributions from its members and supporters, and assured that the reward will be given to whoever “kills the criminal Trump.”
The group explained that the decision responds to recent statements by the U.S. president, who during a meeting at the White House with the Prime Minister of Iraq, Ali al Zaidi, once again claimed responsibility for the order of the attack that in January 2020 ended the life of the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qasem Soleimani, and the then deputy commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) of Iraq, Abu Mahdi al Muhandis, at Baghdad International Airport.
In their statement, the militias described Trump’s words as a “bragging” and maintained that these constitute a sign of the “moral decline” of the U.S. administration.
“The most eloquent proof of the moral decline of the U.S. Administration is that the criminal Trump boasts about his betrayal and aggression by attacking the martyr leaders of victory,” the group stated.
The statement adds that the president’s claims “have done nothing but increase the nobility and immortality of their blood,” while, according to the organization, Trump has only been left with “eternal dishonor and shame.”
The statements that motivated the threat were made this week during the Iraqi head of government’s visit to Washington. On that occasion, Trump reiterated his responsibility in the 2020 military operation.
“I killed him. A very bad person is gone. Coincidentally, he was meeting at the airport and a very bad person from Iraq, who turned out to be a leader of Iraq, died in that same attack,” the U.S. president said.
