Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Thursday an attack against US defenses, aircraft, and military equipment at the Ali al Salem and Al Adiri military bases in Kuwait, within the framework of the hostilities between Washington and Tehran, which have now lasted 12 consecutive days.

“The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in retaliation for the child-killing US Army and its interference in the Strait of Hormuz, have attacked and destroyed a large warehouse of military equipment, a Patriot anti-missile defense system, and a hangar for US MQ-9 drones at Ali al Salem air base,” the Iranian military arm stated in a communiqué reported by the official Tasnim news agency.
It also claimed to have attacked the Al Adiri base, targeting specifically “the accommodation facilities of US forces (and) two helicopter hangars.” “In addition to shooting down and wounding several aggressors, (Revolutionary Guard forces) have inflicted severe damage on several helicopters and drones,” the text details.
The military body also claimed to have attacked “a telecommunications tower,” which it justified as “a response to US attacks on telecommunications towers in Iran”.
“Sometimes it is said that Iran has violated the independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of countries with its attacks, but such a judgment is completely wrong,” the Revolutionary Guard argued in a part of the same communiqué, addressed to the “Kuwaiti people,” in which it defends its retaliations in the region.
Instead, it defended that “the independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of its Government (in specific allusion to Kuwait’s) are fully respected”.
“What kind of place is a US base in a country?” questioned the military body, which defined these locations as places where, “without the control of their border guards, Americans and anyone they wish, sometimes prisoners from other countries, enter and exit.”
“US Army Rangers are the ones who enforce discipline there, not their military guards. The US judge judges the crimes committed there, not their judge. US law applies there, not theirs, not even that of their armed forces. Not even their Minister of Defense has the right to enter there without the permission of the US Rangers,” it argued.
Therefore, the Guard said, “it is the United States that has violated their territorial integrity and sovereignty, not us”. “We are attacking territories occupied by the US Army, an Army that knows nothing but crime.”
The arguments presented by the Guard respond to statements such as those outlined this Wednesday by the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, who, among other claims, demanded that “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states be safeguarded,” describing Iranian conduct as “unacceptable” and “incompatible with the United Nations Charter.”
