At least 67 migrants died in recent days while trying to enter Ceuta, a Spanish enclave located in North Africa, during a massive arrival of people from Morocco, according to the latest report provided by the authorities.
Most of the victims died trying to reach the Spanish coast by sea, while tens of thousands of people crossed into Ceuta in one of the largest migration crises recorded at the border between Spain and Morocco.
According to Spanish authorities, more than 48,000 people have returned to Morocco after the mass entry, while efforts continue to recover bodies and assist those remaining in the autonomous city.

In response to the emergency, Spain began installing a 500-meter floating barrier on the Tarajal jetty with the aim of strengthening border control and making new crossings by sea more difficult. Additionally, the government maintains a large deployment of police and military personnel in the area.
The crisis has raised concern in the European Union, where several countries requested an extraordinary meeting to analyze the situation and strengthen support for Spain in controlling the bloc’s external border.
